Estudiantes de La Plata defeated Central Córdoba 5-0 at home in the 12th round of Zone A of the Apertura tournament. With this victory, the team secured second place, just one point behind the leader, Vélez.
The match was held at the Jorge Luis Hirsch stadium. Estudiantes opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of the second half with a goal from Alexis Castro. Mikel Amondarain extended the lead in the 25th minute.
Adolfo Gaich sealed the victory with a hat-trick, scoring goals in the 35th, 39th, and 42nd minutes. The first of his goals came from a pass by Tiago Palacios. In the 39th minute, Facundo Farías provided an assist for Amondarain to make it 4-0. Gaich completed his hat-trick in the 42nd minute with a header from a cross by José Sosa.
As a result, Estudiantes closed the gap to the leader Vélez to just one point and now sits second in the standings with 21 points. In the next round, the team will face San Lorenzo away.
